This qualification covers competencies for work entry program providing grounding in safety and basic skills and knowledge for work in any electrotechnology discipline.

What a worker in the Industry may do on the job:

  • Read electrical, architectural and mechanical diagrams, drawings or specifications to determine job requirements
  • Plan the layout of wiring system
  • Test for, locate and repair electrical malfunctions
  • Install electrical and electronic control systems and insulated cables
  • Install electrical equipment such as storage heaters, water heaters, electrical signs, switchboard and motors
  • Assemble and fabricate electrical and electronic components & appliances
  • Connect switchs, outlets and other fittings
  • Connect circuit breakers
  • Maintain automated production processes

Pathways from the qualification

After achieving the UEE22011 Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start), candidates may undertake the UEE30811 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician; UEE32211 Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning; or a range of other Certificate III Electrotechnology qualifications.

Once you have successfully completed your Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start), you may decide to pursue further study as an apprentice or trainee.
